Planning and Implementation

Element: 3.1 Design and implement short and long term plans that are linked to program and instructional goals as well as a variety of students needs.

Date: Fall 2011

Reflection:

The block plan and scope and sequence for lab c, that I created during Basics of Effective Instruction in Physical Education (EDU 255) helped me plan out short term and long term objectives for teaching.  Both of these artifacts were part of a larger unit packet for the cricket unit that my partner and I taught for our lab c experience.  I was able to created goals and objectives for students to achieve as they progress throughout the unit.  As students progress through the unit as well as in the motor development as they grow, they will become proficient the skills that are needed to complete a game of cricket.   I understand as a teacher candidate the importance of planning out lessons in order to have an idea of what you want to teach even though classes may not go as you have planned out.

Reflection:

To display my knowledge of this element I created a lesson plan to teach Zumba for lab d in Basics of Effective Instruction in Physical Education (EDU 255).  As a part of the instructional resource packet I created a lesson plan.  The lesson plan demonstrates my ability to create a lesson and apply my knowledge along with what I designed to teach my lesson to the class.  It is important as a teacher to always make adjustments to your lessons in order to accommodate the needs of your students.  Having a lesson plan helps you accommodate your lesson to your class as you have the unit planned out.  Also if you need to change the lesson during the class it gives you a plan to make your change around.
